I'm a professional musician who makes and plays cigar box guitars. Author of the book, Making Poor Man's Guitars (2018 Fox Chapel Publishing).
I'm also an amateur historian of cigar box guitars and related folk art instruments. I've also created the Cigar Box Guitar Museum, a free display open to the public. It is located inside my family's blues venue, Speal's Tavern in New Alexandria PA.
I blog about my antique cigar box guitars and antique instruments at www.cigarboxguitars.com. Apologies in advance for my non-academic writing style. (My career in marketing gave me bad habits in wildly uninhibited prose!)
I'm slowly documenting and cataloging my instrument collection so it can be used by others to fill in gaps in America's folk art instrument history. I joined AMIS to learn how to do this more effectively.
